The unbeaten Capitalist is facing his toughest test to date when he lines up in a classy but small field of two year olds and another impressive win could see he grab back favouritism for the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill in a fortnight.
Capitalist is currently the second pick at $4 for the Golden Slipper behind Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes winner Extreme Choice at $3.80, but has been installed the $1.80 favourite for the Todman Stakes and Snowden can see no reason why the Written Tycoon colt canât continue on his winning way and take his unbeaten run to four.
âHe hasnât met the best yet but I have seen enough from his races to know he is definitely the real deal,â Snowden said.
âApart from his first start his races have been restricted and thatâs always in your mind.â
Capitalist kicked off his unbeaten run with a win in Listed $150,000 Newgate Breedersâ Plate (1000m) at Randwick on October 3.
Snowden then sent him on a Magic Millions campaign with an easy win in the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1100m) at Wyong on December 17 before claiming he big prize with a two and half lengths win in the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9.
Snowden has given Capitalist plenty of time to get over the Gold Coast run and wasnât at all concerned than he ran second to the Gai Waterhouse trained English in an 837m barrier trial at Randwick on February 19.
âHe was soft going into that trial but it was unbelievable,â Snowden said.
âHe is just one of those natural gifted athletes that you donât have to have screwed down.â
âYou only need to have him eighty per cent right and they do the rest, he is probably more like ninety per cent.â
âI need to have him fairly well tuned up, this is a pretty hard race, but his work is outstanding and heâs a talented horse.â
âThe manner in which he is doing it and the way he goes about it is A grade.â
Blake Shinn has been aboard Capitalist for all his three wins and gets the job again in the Todman Stakes.
